The Donetsk regional state administration denies information about introducing martial law in Donetsk, the press-service of the administration reported Friday. Earlier, some media had reported that martial law was imposed in Donetsk.

“The regional state administration officially declares that these data do not correspond to reality. We beg you not to panic,” the report says.

On February 22, a change of power with signs of a coup took place in Ukraine. The Verkhovna Rada ousted President Viktor Yanukovych, changed the Constitution and appointed presidential elections for May 25. A number of regions in the southeast of the country did not recognize the legitimacy of the new Kiev authorities. In response, by mid-April, law enforcement agencies controlled by Kiev authorities began a special operation in the southeast involving aviation and armored vehicles.

Moscow has called this operation, which has already resulted in dozens of dead and wounded people, punitive, and urges it to stop immediately.

Earlier on Friday, the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic declared mobilization of men from 19 to 40 years of age.
